The solution

There is no need to detail Caps Lock's default, and highly undesirable, functionality; every keyboard user knows it all to well. We could have done the easy thing and just disabled it. We did not.
The Caps Lock key is nice and large, making it easy to reach. We decided to make it into an asset by remapping it to the Windows key.
Our solution brings you three benefits. First you get rid off the sneaky and nasty behaviour of the Caps Lock key. Now this prominent and easy to reach key can be used to trigger qliner hotkeys (more on that later) and boost your productivity at the keyboard. Last but not least Windows key default functionality becomes available to keyboards that do not have a Windows key. To the Windows key impaired: welcome to the world of hotkeys!

Introducing qliner hotkeys

Qliner hotkeys is a free and open source keyboard productivity environment. It is the first product of its kind that is usable by computer geeks and non geeks alike.
Hotkeys builds on the concept of Windows shortcut keys but takes this concept to a whole new level.
Do you think key combinations are hard to remember? Just hold the Windows key for three seconds and up pops a Onscreen Keyboard with icons on the keys that are configured. This you can you use , not only to remind you of hotkey combinations, but also for Drag and Drop Configuration.

Smart launching and opening

Hotkeys is smart in the way it launches applications and opens documents. When a key combination is pressed hotkeys will first try to find an existing instance of the requested application or document and bring that to the front. This behaviour can be overruled by holding the Alt key, which ensures that a new instance is allways launched. If no existing instances are found a new instance is started. If multiple instances are running the Instance Switching menu is displayed.

Qliner hotkeys is an open source product. It is made by people who are passionate about the human computer interface. Our aim is to radically improve this interface and get the product in the hands of as many users as possible.
Innovation is everywhere in the product. We integrated and polished it to the maximum, even to such an extent that most users are astonished that the functionality was not there before in the operating system.
The on screen keyboard is a completely novel way to configure and learn hotkeys. Hotkeys provides the fastest possible way to navigate between specific instances of applications. The instant on / instant off behavior of the interface is a completely new user interface paradigm by itself.
