Qliner screenshots is the easiest and fastest way of taking full screen or pixel precise screenshots for your documentation, help files, web log, software review or just for fun. The product streamlines the way you capture screen elements, instantly increasing your productivity. Besides that, qliner screenshots is free and open source software.

Introducing qliner screenshots

Windows offers the ability to take screenshots using the Print Screen button. Alt + Print Screen if you just want to capture the active Window. The result is put on the clipboard. Qliner screenshots expands this functionality.

The "Full screenshot" and "Active window screenshot" are directly followed by a "Save image as" dialog that allows you to save the capture to disc. It allows you to constrain (and optionally resize) the image in height and width. It remembers path and compression type and defaults to a non existing file name (sequentially numbered). This way taking screenshots is a two step process: (1) press hotkey, (2) press enter (trigger Save button on dialog).

"Show Selection Window" shows a window that can be used to select a specific portion of the screen. The selection window can optionally be controlled using the keyboard (try ctrl, alt and shift (and combinations of these keys) in conjunction with the arrow keys. "Save Selection", "Copy Selection" and "Select Active Window" trigger the respective functions on the selection window (this to not make context menus go away).

Getting started

Qliner screenshots requires qliner hotkeys. Get the latest version here. Download qliner screenshots here, and install it (extract the .KeyboardTool file, right-click and select install).

You need to configure keys:  (1) bring up the keyboard by using Win + Z or by holding the Windows key for several seconds, (2) right click the keys you want to use to take screenshots, (3) navigate the pop up menu (as shown below) and select the desired action.
