Support for other mail programs
If you select the 'other mailers' setting Quotes a signature with the name QSignature will be created in the following directory on your machine.
Vista/Windows 7: C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Quotes\Signatures
Windows XP/older: C:\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Application Data\Quotes\Signatures
You can also use your own directory, in that case you have to use the textbox below the checkbox. If you use a directory that does not exist the default directory will be used.
Don't forget to replace %UserName% with your name. The Application Data directory is a hidden folder. In the view tab of folder options selected 'show hidden folders'.
The signature is QSignature is generated in three file formats: web (htm), normal text (txt) and rich text (rtf). Go to account settings of your selected mail profile and select the above mentioned signature file in web the supported format (preferred HTM).
Change the signature
You can change the QSignature.htm file with your own signature text. Random quotes will be added whilst your signature text remains the same. Double click the Quotes icon near the system tray and a new random Quotation will be added to your signature. You can also change your settings that your signature is automatically changed in a certain time interval.
Thunderbird
By right clicking your email profile (in the case of this illustration for profile see left pane
qliner@qliner.com
). In the account settings check the 'attach signature from file' checkbox and select QSignature.htm mentioned above.
If you want to add an image to your Thunderbird signature open the QSignature.htm file with a HTML editor or with Notepad and add an IMG object to a local image file beneath <BODY>.
Like this <IMG SRC="file:///c:/yourpath/yourpicture.jpg">.
Outlook
Sometimes the Outlook checkbox on the settings page from Quotes does not add a Quote to your Outlook signature file. In that case you can manually add this signature. You can do this by checking the checkbox 'other mailers' and adding the directory of your Outlook signatures manually. A file names 'QSignature' will be added in this directory.
By default the directory where Outlook stores signatures is:
Vista/Windows 7: C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Signatures
Windows XP/older: C:\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Application Data\Microsoft\Signatures
On computers in another language than English the signature directory is named differently. Don't forget to replace %UserName% with your name. The Application Data directory is a hidden folder. In the view tab of folder options selected 'show hidden folders'.
You can select this Signature in Outlook after you have changed these settings and changed the Quote once in the application. See the following image to see where to change your signature settings in Outlook.
